My battery tester needs batteries. Why do I feel like the universe is messin with me?

What on earth do you need a battery powered battery tester for?! I guess if they make it, people will buy it.
All you need is a small light bulb and two wires - better yet, here's one that comes with wires attached so you don't have to solder:

Then all you need to do is touch one wire to one end and the other wire to the other end. If the buld lights up, your battery is good. If it looks dim, the battery is on it's way out.
Another alternative is to purchase a good multimeter and measure the voltage, although that can be misleading because if a battery is almost dead, it will read full voltage, but it won't have enough juice (current) left to actually power anything.
