What kind of a battery tender should I get for a 2005 Sportster 1200 Roadster?
battery November 25th, 2008I have been neglecting my bike this winter and meant to get a battery tender earlier but now it is spring and my battery of course is dead. What kind of a battery tender should I get?
Don't ask me for details about my bike, I love to ride but don't get into the mechanical stuff.
Go with the Battery Tender Junior. I have one and it works great, even for car batteries. If you hook it up wrong it shuts down so it can't harm your battery or blow itself up. It comes with a variety of pigtails so you don't have to take the seat or body panels off to hook it up after you install the pigtail.

If you need a new battery (an auto parts store can test it) install a 'battery tender junior' on the new one. You leave the leads on the batterry and plug it in whenever you get home. The charger is no bigger than the 12 volt converters you plug into a wall outlet for other gadgits. If you neglect your sporty again, don't ride for a month or just drain the battery from a bunch of short hops, you'll still have a charged battery, always.

Walmart sells a Schumaker automatic trickle charger for under $20 . Much less expensive than the "Battery Tender " brand . Should work on any bike , I have one on mine . It will charge the battery but will shut down when the battery is fully charge so you don`t hurt your battery .
