I recently (2 months ago)) bought a 1990 Holden Commodore VN to drive around Australia. After 10,000km (Melbourne to Cooktown then to Alice Springs via Tennant Creek), the battery warning light sometimes switches on. The car starts first time, every time, and my friend’s battery charger/tester tells me the battery is in good condition. Any ideas.???

The battery light measures your charging system, ie. your alternator. Likely the alternator output is weak.

I was going to use a piece of wire instead of the fuse if it’s safe enough. Is it really possible that one AA battery is powerful enough to start a fire if I use the battery tester without the fuse?

Fuses are fitted to devices for very good reasons and should always be replaced with one of the correct rating.

Never replace a fuse with a bit of wire or foil.

I’m trying to find a parasitic drain on my battery. The article I’m reading said I need one of these. Is this the same as a multimeter? I searched for it and got various responses. Can you find one and post a link. I’m trying to trouble shoot a 99 crappy VW jetta. Notorious for electrical problems.

I have just bought an Exide/Midtronics EBT-155 Plus Electronic Battery Tester. I have worked out how to use it by using the manual from the similar PBT-200 tester but there are some functions that I don’t know how to use.

If you have a manual, quick reference card or instructions for the 155+ could you scan and email them to me. If you know an on-line resource I can use, that would be even better. I have tried Google and the Midtronics and Exide websites without success.

I know what most of the LED readings mean, they are self explanatory, but what does it mean when one of the coloured indicator lights (Red, amber, green) is flashing?

I am testing a rc90 werker battery. I have been using the dcv setting at 50. please help me. this battery cant be dead and needing to replaced already.

The battery should hold at least 10 volts for ten seconds under a load test.

Go to harbor freight. Most of their stuff is throw away junk, I know. But the battery tester I got there has been working for 10 years and I only paid like 15 or 20 for it.
