what is a good battery load tester to check my 6 and 12 volt batteries?

Go to your nearest automobile battery shop. They always have one for testing vehicle batteries. You can ask them where they can be bought. Or maybe they have a spare that they can sell to you at a low price.

bmw 520 new alternator wont charge the battery?

Posted by admin on September 24th, 2009

i have a bmw 1098 520 model brought the car to the garage as it wouldn’t start they said it was the alternator i got a new alternator now the car is still the same battery not charging when i put an battery and alternator tester on to the Battery the lights for battery are ok but the is no light showing up to say the alternator is charging the battery
any ideas

it cant be the Voltage regulator as these is built into the alternator

Think I answered your question before. Your still messing up the year. the 520 is a Europe only model. Before I open my fig fat mouth again lets get some badly needed information here. YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And is the battery light in the dash coming on just before you start the car?

Typically with BMW’s wires are not the problem not even the battery a alternator either charges or it doesn’t.

Why stores that sell small batteries, don’t sell battery testers?

How do a test a Laptop battery?

Posted by admin on August 21st, 2009

I just got a "like new" battery from ebay and wanted to tested if that is true. Is there a battery tester program for this?

Compare your old and new batteries physically by looking at the sticker on them. If they both look the same, then you bought a genuine battery, which is a good thing. "Replacement" batteries should be avoided at all times.

If it’s a genuine battery, just go online and look up what the charge time should be for your laptop. If it lasts roughly that long with your screen brightness turned all the way down, then you did indeed buy a like-new battery.

I have 1 battery for the engine and 2 battery for inside coach. Why does the battery inside the coach not last

Posted by admin on August 7th, 2009

very long? The light goes dim after awhile. What can we do to find out why the lights go out so fast. Is there a tester to check the battery or should we get gel battery as the gel battery I was told last a lot longer? I was also told to get another solar panel. What wattage size should we use? Is there any other way to use the tv or microwave besides the inside generator? Most State beach do not allow you to turn on the generator until 10:00am and turned off by 8:00pm?

Thanks again for your answers.

I would say your coach batteries are not connected to the charging system on the engine. A new battery has over 12 volts when charged and with the engine running it should show over 13 volts and your coach batteries should be charging with the engine running. If you have a volt meter check it or have some one check it for you. You also need to have the battery for starting the engine isolated from the coach batteries because if the engine is off with all 3 hooked to the charging system they all 3 will go dead. An RV shop knows how to hook them up so they will charge all 3 and also keep your engine battery alive.

On an analog readout battery load tester what do the steps between the green/yellow areas indicate in CCA area?

Posted by admin on August 3rd, 2009

such as the Associated model 6029 (the operating instructions don’t seem to explain this). The green area gets wider and the yellow area narrower as you go down closer to the rotating point of the readout needle.

The yellow stepped area is an indicator of Cold Cranking Amps that your battery has in reserve when doing the ten second load test. Check the CCA rating of your battery before the test and then see how close the reading matches your battery rating when you have the battery under a load. This will give you a rough indication of the condition of your battery.

Why can’t my car battery hold a charge?

Posted by admin on July 10th, 2009

I have already replaced the battery and the alternator (at the cost of $400). The engine has trouble turning over, and I can’t drive further than 10 or 15 minutes before dying after my car has been sitting on a charger for over an hour. I can’t afford to keep guessing at what is wrong, and no tester has been able to identify the problem. Please, please, please let me know some other reasons why my car won’t hold a charge.

you have a short or a wire hooked up wrong.

car has trouble starting with in 12hours after that it wont start battery is good and nothing is on something?

Posted by admin on July 4th, 2009

is draining the battery and i have no idea what it is it took sears 40min to charge and test battery can battery have bad cell and tester cant find it ? can a short in starter be draining the battery ?once battery is charged or jump it starts so i rule out starter and maybe battery
alt is charging the system

a very old battery (life used-up) in their last few days life can still be recharged and get the car running. However, since their life has almost expired, their charge holding capacity is already shortened. The get easily drained even though they are not connected to the battery terminals. The best way to isolate the battery is to borrow a known good battery and install it in place of your battery. If the problem disappears then your old battery is the problem. If not, then go find an auto electrician who could do the troubleshooting for you.

Can you use a handheld battery operated diamond tester to test rough diamonds?

Posted by admin on June 30th, 2009

Does anyone know if any of the testing devices will detect rough uncut diamonds? Going diamond prospecting. If the handheld devices are not ideal, please suggest the best way to detect diamonds in it’s rough form.

I come from a jewelers family, so I can say with assurance that yes, a handheld diamond tester can definitely be used on rough stones.

Good hunting!
